It depends on what is wrong with the switch, mine had burned out on the fan section but the centre thermostat section was still OK. I bought a 3 position AC fan switch from a Jetta (don't know the year) for about $35.00 By disconnecting all the fan wires and drilling a hole separately through the dash I mounted the fan rotary switch next to the thermostat switch. It works just like the original except the swiches are not ganged together. I'm surprised that you can buy the original switch at any price, I was told it was NLA years ago
