Ben, i cant help you there.. my '85 Automatic Doka 6 seater never came with the floor vent, or a rear heater for that matter.. :<( thus the plastic auto trans shifter selector lever housing in my Doka is the same as what came in a passenger Vanagon. if the housing you speak of is shorter because of the floor vents, i'm guessing its a Doka only part...?? dunno.

mine did have both an engine AND tranny pan block heaters...(added by the vw dealership) .so it was evidentally cold enough for that..
