Agreed, mice most certainly can and do jump.  They are also amazing climbers, I once opened a tall cupboard door in my duplex to find a shrew on the shelf at eye level and I am 6'2" tall.  Moose are another animal that can jump higher then one would think.  I have watched an adult moose jump a 5ft high fence from a standing position.  Thankfully they are not known to infest vanagons.
