1/ Do a compression check.

2/ Check the quality of the spark with a spark tester or a spark plug with a VERY wide gap.

3/ Check the injectors by pulling them and observing their spray pattern (Don't smoke).

4/ Check the delivery rate of the fuel pump at the fuel system test point in the engine bay (Once again, don't smoke).

5/ Check for water in the fuel which is pumped out while checking the delivery rate of the fuel pump (Now you can screw the lid on the Ball jar of gas and go have a smoke).

6/ Don't change ANY part unless you have confirmed it to be defective ESPECIALLY the fuel pressure regulator. If a part is queefed out, it will require no input from the list, you will know it right away.
