Frankly, I can't say I've ever had reason to compare the two side-by-side.
As a parts specialist I know they are not interchangeable with the more
common Girlings, but none of my own Vanagons has used them so I've never had
any direct experience fitting them myself.  In fact we rarely even get an
order for them.
