Subject: Van quit in Cloudcroft, New Mexico
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi folks,

I am posting this message for Maggie Dew, (from Oklahoma City) owner of the "Anne Bonney", an '85 Westy with a 2.2L Subaru engine. She is currently in Alamogordo New Mexico (the van is in Cloudcroft) looking for a new fuel pump. She called last night and said that the pump had sounded "funny" right after she had filled up, but that she had been noticing funny pump noises for a few weeks beforehand. The van started to quit and then stopped completely. Cranks fine but will not start. She said that the pump no longer runs when the ignition is switched on. I checked the Vanagon.com archives and gave her both the VW P/N and the Ford fuel pump P/N (2P74028), in case she can't get the correct VW part. From what she described, I don't think it is the fuel pump relay, and she installed a brand new fuel tank and filter when she converted last winter.

She has about 17,000 miles on since the conversion.

Any local help or advise from other list members would be appreciated. She does not have email access (her laptop died a few days ago) and apparently the local library is closed today (Sunday).

You can call her on her cell phone at 405-640-7690.

My only concern is that she get the correct pump, that matches the incoming fuel line size.

Thanks,

Dave Milo
