I spent Sunday getting a ride down to Alamogordo, finding a fuel pump, and then getting back up to Cloudcroft. The van would start, but would die almost immediately - not getting gas. Tried several times with no luck. I was preparing to change out the pump and was examining the old pump, messing with the wiring connections, and getting ready to take it off, when the local state cop brought a friend of his over to see if they could help. Of course the van started right up and hasn't quit since. Go figure - loose connection? Dirt in the pump? I drove it on to Carlsbad - approx 130 miles - without incident. I have the new pump and a new filter to take with me. If I make it back to Oklahoma OK, I will order a new Bosch pump and take this cheap one back - then install both the pump and the filter. Thanks to Dave Milo, and to the guys on the Subaru-Vanagon list, Martin and John. Maggie '85 Subaru-Westy "Anne Bonney"
