Subject: Re: power steering reservoir

Hello there. I think what you got is a universal type filter.I personally have never changed the power steering filter on a vanagon, but sounds like a good idea. The Bentley shows a larger type of filter. Kinda like a thick donut that floats in the resivour.I think it is white in color and can be seen through the housing. If you want to use your filter, and I think you can, place it in the return line that goes into the resivour. This line has far less pressure in it than the supply line. The supply line has expensive looking metal fittings on either end, and is high pressure hose( will your filter take this pressure anyway?).I think the return line uses a hose clamp on the resivour. You may search the Bentley on line. This was posted on the list a few weeks ago. Maybe you can see this filter there ,and compare.
