Subject: oil pump change in the van??
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"
Hi all
Was pondering a oil pump change in the van.
am i just stupid to do it or just rev the engine to 1400 rpm at a light all the time to keep the light off??
it has 20-50 in it now. am i at the end of the oil pumps life? or put in straight 50W to Hyploid to make my own engine weight oil?? just foolin
i do have a lift (2 post style) and lift jacks to support the motor trans. ive been called a Hobbiest Extreme at times. but if i put it in the air and support the motor,
pull the exhaust and front pulley. kinda the same amount of work as the water pump. man i wish i would have replaced the oil pump when it was on the engine
stand. will its getting cold and this will just add another project to the list. i have the oil pump puller from my aircooled stuff so it should be fairly straight forward
after removing the engine support bar, Right??
let me know if anyone has done it and if i need to do some other stupid thing in there while im up in there. i could add a oil cooler with t-stat to pull the temp
down and keep it about 180 deg. i think it starts to flicker at about oil temp of 200 deg. of course this is with one of those point and shoot lazor thermostat things
that seem fairly accurate.
thanks Jonce
