RE: Clear Title Ben, usually the term Clear Title usually means that there is no Lien Holder listed on the title. That would usually be a lender that has financed the vehicle but can also be a co-owner. An example would be a vehicle registered and titled in the name of a child but the parent is listed as a Lien Holder. The Lien Holders interest must be satisfied before the title can be transferred to a new owner. The costs, requirements, and procedures for transferring title to a new owner are going to vary from State to State, there is no uniform set of rules. This can vary from simple paper work with the clerk accepting whatever is put in front of them to detailed smog and safety inspections depending on the State and even the county or city where the transaction is taking place. If I were you I would have the current owner do the research locally and find out exactly what will be required. As for the export issues, I don't have a clue. |
