My own experience of Continental tires is not in Continental's favor. I tried an old Honda CB350 Twin on the racetrack. These bikes have poor cornering clearance, even for their day, yet the Continental Twin rear tire would let go before anything could scrape the track surface. I have talked to tire folk here in New Zealand. They told me that Contis are generally made for concrete autobhans, and do not grip at all well on asphalt roads. In other words, they are not safe... braking distances are long, cornering grip is meager. That might be why they don't sell here. -- Andrew Grebneff Dunedin New Zealand Fossil preparator <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Seashell, Macintosh, VW/Toyota van nut HUMANITY: THE ULTIMATE VON NEUMANN MACHINE DEMOCRACY: RULE BY THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR |
