I need to replace the fuel tank vent lines and such on my "new" Vanagon - I noticed all the kits from the vendors include the cross-over plastic tube/pipe is on top of the tank, as well as a new o-ring for the fuel gage sender. I did not replace this pipe when I did this procedure on my old van. Is it really necesarry to replace this cross over pipe and the o-ring for the fuel tank sender? The plastic pipe adds $35+ dollers vs just lines and seals. Just wondering what people's personal expereince is in this area. John 87 Westy Weekender
