At the BC / US border, you can fax them copies of documents, but must have the originals 3 days later when you actually bring the vehicle through. Also, they want 3 business days, not 72 hours. They don't process personal vehicles on weekends or US holidays. I think each border does things slightly different and the rules are always changing, that's why I suggest Ben drive down to the border near Montreal and find out in advance what exactly they want....also remember the persons name you speak to...that way there will be no delays/surprises on the way home.
