I installed something I think is similar, progard or something. Had a peel away backing exposing a sticky back, front side was blue poly, protecting the mastic/asphalt/whatever core.

It did smell on the summer day i cut and installed it, and I was worried about the smell inside the van. But there was no problem, no smell.

I am in the process of installing sound deadening material in my 82 AC Westy. I picked up some roofing material from Home Depot called "Weather Watch" (http://www.gaf.com/General/GafMain.asp?Silo=RES1&WS=GAF) it is much like the "ice guard" stuff we have discussed on the list. One BIG difference, it stinks to high heaven! I picked the stuff up last weekend and have had it in the back of my car since. Every time I drive the car I get high from nasty petroleum smells. Glad I discovered this before I stuck it all over my van. Have any of you who have installed similar stuff had this particular problem? The smell is strong enough that I don't think it is just going to go away on its own.

Jake
