I third this.

The first time I went to Baja a couple of years ago I was driving down the highway at night. I came around a blind corner at a normally safe speed of about 45 MPH and SURPRISE!, there is a long horn steer standing in the middle of my lane in the dark, I did not see him until I was about 30-40 feet away, don't know how I missed him, he never moved an inch! I was told that the livestock leave the desert at night for the warmth of the highway.

Also the natives have a bad habit that when they break down at night instead of using flares to warn oncoming drivers, they put a large rock in the middle of the road instead, quite effective except for the poor driver that hits it usually suffers suspension damage with no help in sight for miles.

Oh yeah, there are no lights on the highway either.

Have fun, Baja is a great place, I've been to Los Cabos twice with wife and dog and had a GREAT TIME!

Everything (not enough for serious statistics, but so far unanimous) that we've experienced leads me to Second This ....
