Ok, my curiosity got the better of me and I dug out one of each of 3 models of ECUs to look at. Here is what they had labeled on the outside.

VW # 025 906 022 , Triumph-Adler, Digifant, Made in Germany

VW # 025 906 022 , Bosch 0261 200 065, DF, Made in Germany

VW # 025 906 022D , Bosch 0261 200 284, Digifant I, Made in Germany

I also opened up all 3 to compare them. The 2 different brands of 022 were only somewhat different inside, both made in ~1986. The later 022D was very different from the other 2, a more modern design for sure made in ~1990. Both of the 022 versions had very similar components inside, just not in exactly the same locations. The 022D had far fewer parts inside and the parts on the second circuit board were sealed inside a metal cover. I have used all 3 types in my 87.

Mark
