The VW Euro parts data I checked showed only the 022D version for Syncro with 2.1 MV engine. The VW parts data typically lists only the current replacement part numbers and does not mean that some other number was never used. For some parts a revision history with the various parts versions given but I did not find one for ECUs. The same 022D was the only part listed for 2wd models with that engine. My parts data source is somewhat out of date.

I have seen examples of the 022 and 022D that did not have the VW part number on them at all, only Bosch numbers. The 022(D) is part of a VW number and may be missing. I suspect that Bosch sold replacement ECUs in a generic form to parts houses and these did not have the VW number. If anyone has the Bosch part numbers for the 022 and 022D please post them.

Mark
