I just dont know what to say about all this. You are a glutton for punnishment that exceeds only me.Why do you want to remove the upper thermistat housing anyway?Because it is there? Gotta be done when the water pump is replaced, but you are not doing that.If you try to take off those 2 ,10mm bolts (after being told not to 15 times,I bet)your glutton exceeds mine. You come in from the water pump side anyway when removing the upperhousing. At this point look real hard at your water pump.Is it looking anything other than new?Consider changing the pump while you are 60 or 70 percent there already.Only $65 more/bus depot. That little hose is reattached while the o-ring is being pushed in , all at the same time.Ready? 1-2-3 push/shove all at once.Use anti sieze commpound everywhere-hoses and bolts.Use a lubricant like antiseize compound on the little hose. Both clamps ready ,and pre installed on the little hose, all the way to one side.My little hose from BD had to be trimmed to fit-get an new one! Use RTV on the o-ring, but smooth the inside of where it seats with sand paper first.Currently, there is crusty stuff in the groove. When you are done, dont forget to put in your thermistat. The compressor needs to be removed from the mount(are you now thinking about water pump replacement? you should).Dont have to disconnect it-use a coat hanger to hold it back.Lots of agony in the archives about water pump changing on a 1.9.Your housing issues will all be covered there.Seek in out! Roger
