"an emotive cult object". . . Please spare me. Apparently the good doktor was not around whenever the VW bus achieved cult stature. Had he been he would realize the cult consisted of a bunch of bourgeois suburban kids who needed cheap wheels, a place to crash and whose toolbox held only a rusty Crescent wrench, a carpenter's hammer and a roach clip.
