I came very close to going with an 86-91 Grille/Headlight setup on my 84 when I noticed that the retaining tabs for the uppermost grille screw retainers had to be cut to allow the rectangle headlights. After some considerable second thoughts, I decided to forego the later setup and wound up installing a SA Grille/Light assembly instead, utlizing those tabs. Plus, this allows me to revert to just the standard two round 7" headlights in future if desired with no modifications. The gist of this is - Don't see a problem, the grille will mount up without the tabs, but may be "flimsy" in it's stability. You may need to weld-in these mounting tabs to provide a more positive mounting for the uppermost part of the grille. That's my take on it, but I'm sure others out there will have better ideas. -- Jim Thompson 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" 73 K Ghia Coupe "Denise" 72 411 Station Wagon "Pug" oldvolkshome@gmail.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com ********************************** On 11/17/05, roger sisler <rogersisler2000@yahoo.com> wrote: > > Just thought some of the owners of late model vanagons deep down, really > want round headlights like early vanagons.
