They are VERY expensive but my Dad uses an engine driven compressor
and a cold plate on his boat for his refrigeration. They run the
engine once a day to "charge" the cold plate and it keeps their
(admittedly better insulated than a westy fridge) ice box cold all
day:

I have often wondered about getting a system like this to supplement
westy cooling, or if you could even take a line of the AC compressor
to "charge" the cold plate.
