I ground off the hinges from the van frame side, welded on 1" square tubing and welded the hinges on it. It works for 14" 205 tires.

What sort of mod did you do to fit your larger spare? I have 215/65 15's and I bent the hinges down a bit and also cut a curved piece of metal out of the hinge support bar and my tire is still rubbing the steering linkage.
