Salut Ben!

I've done this two times and the advice/comments that Frank C. gave
reflects my experience at the NB/Maine boarder.  US Customes were very
rigid about having the original certificate of title 72 hours before
bringing the vehicle across.  I made photocopies of the certificate of
title to get the temporary registration from the state in which I was
buying the vehicle from (check the internet for the state Department of
Motorvehicle requirements and emails/phone numbers).  The last time I did
this I had some problems with my insurance company who would not give me
insurance until the car was registered in my name...and in NY I could not
get the temporary registration until I had proof of insurance...I had to
tell a half truth.  In the end it was not that difficult, and my 84 Westy
was less trouble than the 97 Subie because it was older and did not
require the CND federal inspection...the bigest pain is those damn MPH
speedometers and odometer :o).  I lent my Subie to a friend last week and
he told me that my speedometer was not working, I said it worked that
morning...he said he was doing 75 and it felt alot faster than 75 km/h...I
called him leadfoot and told him it was in MPH and not km/h!!!.
