A good one (OE VW) will last damn near forever. I had a tailpipe on a Syncro which lasted from 1990 to 2002 and it might still be living somewhere between western PA and North Carolina. In a moment of need I had swapped it to my beater Syncro which had a Walker "lifetime" muffler. I should have known better because "lifetime" to Walker is two to four years and their mufflers always seem to queef out by way of the outlet stub rusting apart. The upside is that the loss of the tailpipe caused me to get off the dime and to fabricate a proper tailpipe from nonmagnetic stainless steel complete with a reinforcement gusset bushing at the flange. I wish I could live forever just to see how long that one will last. Any vampires on this list?

George
