Well, I found the problem. It is a $1.00 part. Seems that the end of the starter was off angle because the little copper bushing was worn. I think this might have caused some slow hot starter problems too in that there was play in the bushing causing undue pressure on the starter. At any rate, old starter is back in the van and starting it fine. Thanks for all of the ideas guys. By the way, a good way to get this little bushing out of the housing is to use a tap. Graps on and pulls the sucker right out. William |
