Subject: How to store WESTY for LONG-TERM STORAGE (1yr+)??
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM How to store WESTY for LONG-TERM STORAGE (1yr+)??

Ahoy Volks!

Looks like my beloved Westy will need to be stored long-term, as I have just been hired as First mate/navigator onboard a 63' sailing vessel that will be traveling to the Caribbean then to Europe and the Mediterranean untiil the America's Cup in Valencia Spain in 2007. My Westy is my **baby,*** and there is no option of selling it!

Any and all advice of collective wisdom that the LISTEES can send me would be a great value.

Where to store it? In a public storage unit? I checked one out, 10 x 20 and it fits in there (concrete floor). Is this wise?

What about gas tanks? Condensation? Potential rust in engine and underbody?

Tires on/off? jacks stands? Springs? Rubber seals?

To crank the engine periodically or not??

Burning questions, and many others that I have not thought of yet!

I look forward to hearing your valuable suggestions.

Sincerely, LouiZe Christensen 91 Westy
