Kurt In our case just the bolts on the rear shocks mounts needed tightening. Cheap fix :-) Larry

....also a flogged out shock rubber will create such a clunking and it would be worth checking them all while confirming the tightness of the bolts. Happened to me a number of times over the years in VWs and Land Rovers...
