The  010 / 087 / 089 / 090  Audi/VW transmissions were essentially
internally identical. The different numbers reflect minor exterior
variations for their specific applications, i.e. cooler/no cooler,
different  reverse ring gear hub splining to mate with the final drive
pinion shaft, etc. All of the "wear parts" are the same though. Rebuild kits
for these usually say "010/087/089/090" on them. Some of the applications I
know are: 010 air cooled Type2, 090 water cooled Type 2 and Audi A80, 087
Audi A100/A200, Not sure off hand what the 089 was for.
