The question is more like: where is Karl???, probably at Larry's place, or in California, on the road somewhere.... he he he... Am assuming you have a 2.1L? Anyway, those van do self bleed like any other cars (Almost), he he... On over 100 vans, only one gave me some minor overheat trouble, and yes, it was a 1.9L... watch/fill that tank each morning for the next few days...at MOST. PUT A NEW CAP on that tank, 90% of all the van i see have faulty cap!!! keep tank full if possible, period. Run the van, check temp... and drive! Cheers, Ben http://www.benplace.com/ ___________________________________________________________ Volks- Since Karl Mullendore isn't available, I was forced to have my non-vanagon mechanic replace some coolant hoses. I asked them to follow the Bentley when bleeding air, but... How harmful is air in the left/pressure/expansion tank down to the right-side tube ? I reckon the system self-bleeds, but despite constant monitoring of both tanks (non-pressurized/license/overflow coolant at max), NO low-level light or hot engine temp. on 40 min. drives, I'm paranoid! Good/bad idea to release some air by twisting blue expansion cap when engine is warm? I'm sure it'd be better to re-bleed, but if it ain't broke.... Pat ('90 Westy syncro) |
