Hi Dusty, Pretty much any vanagon/bus upgrade could wind up on a Christmas list: Parcel trays. Awnings Matching beach/lawn/campfire chairs. Interior lighting systems. New 3-window canvas. Etc. Personally, I have a policy not to buy gifts that attach to a vehicle, because when that vehicle is gone the gift goes too. But that leaves plenty of other options:
Tools: Good metric wrenches, a torque wrench, an oil filter socket or something else that people wouldn't normall buy themselves. A good pair of mechanics gloves. Jack stands, ramps and/or a hydraulic jack. An electrical meter. A timing light or trouble light. A bentley manual. A better toolbox. For those with a late-model, a digitool.
Camping gear: Sleeping bags, mattress upgrades, lanterns, etc. Busdepot dishes and cutlery are another nice idea, but better buy'em soon if you're planning on having them shipped in time.
Other ideas; A digital camera or a storage media upgrade might also be worthwhile. Or an itunes gift certificate that can be used to purchase "road music". The possibilities are endless...
