So.... Last night I got into a discussion that brought up Volkswagen's Technical Recommendation Z4, Journeys Under Difficult Conditions. That caused me to drag out this wonderful pamphlet. Perusing it this evening with thoughts of actually MAKING one or two of the off-road accessories brought me to this question: "Has anyone actually made any of these parts?" Specifically, the engine/gearbox "protection" plates. If so, I'd love to hear about it. See, I got this diesel Vanagon... It's got this oil pan made of 'nearly unobtainium' without the benefit of the stock belly pan. I off paved road with this Westy frequently. When I got the Vanagon, it had this three piece oil pan joined with copious quantities of JB Weld. I'd REALLY like to preclude that from happening again. Jim |
