 The Torsen style diff is a torque biasing diff...a unit with a bunch of
gears inside rather than a true limited slip with clutch plates in
there.
The Golf/Jetta crowd loves these TBD's and Quaiffe has made them for
years.
These go for $1195 during a rebuild and definately do the job with no
locker
stuff to deal with....obviously not a positive traction control like a
locker, but they are a no brainer working all the time operation...they
put
some torque to both wheels..for info and pics of a similar unit...go to

That will give you a good idea of what I am talking about. I am  putting
one
in a syncro front as we speak and will see how that goes instead of
making
it a locker.
