My favorite episode of Top Gear featured a very plain Jane Renault. The car was on loan from the manufacturer.

The Top Gear crew was impressed with all the air bags that came with the car. So, what did they do? They found someone willing (some sort of professional, but I can't imagine what his job title would be) to simply use the basic safety belts (no helmet that I recall) and smash the brand new car head-on into a car, wall, or other stationary object. The objective? How well do all those air bags work.

The best part of that whole segment is that Renault had no idea they were going to crash the car, much less destroy it.

I'd like to destroy a car right about now.

Cheers, Bruce motorbruce@hotmail.com
