VW must be trying to kill the Vanagon. All they need do is eliminate a couple of critical parts like this and it's over. You either do an engine conversion or park the van, permanently.

The attitude is a real source of irritation. On top of that, the VW marketing folks just can't seem to get it right with the North American market, particularly the US market. Yes, they do sell cars, but it's nothing like what they could do if their marketing folks got their crap together and they put out products to meet the various market segments. I sometimes feel they don't have a clue as to how marketing really works!
