They share the same platform and are both rear wheel drive. Here is a description from the same website regarding the current LT.

" Two engines are available. The 2.5 TDI produces 80kW and 280Nm transmitted to the rear wheels through a five-speed gearbox. This translates to top speeds of 141km/h for the LT35 80kW standard roof and 138km/h for the LT46 80kw. Both the Sprinter and LT share the overall body. The dash layout is different and the front fenders, hood and grill are different as well. VW and Mercedes use their own engines, but I believe they have the same drivetrain.
