I've one of the Jerry can style gas cans. I put a pad underneath it and
it is laying in my luggage carrier. I tied it down with my standard
adjustable straps so it is secure up there. Sticks up a little bit, so
it is noticable, but as it is laying on its side, it is only barely
visible. Note, this is the german style can with the tight sealing
spout, so it can lay on it side like this without spilling.
