We have one of these cots in our 85 vanagon, no doubt installed by the
original owner.  If you plan on installing one, make sure that both
front seats are pushed all the way back.  On the driver's side, make
sure that the seat back is in the fully vertical position.
When we have the cot in place, and we plan on using the stove/sink the
next morning, we have to open the stove/sink top BEFORE moving the
driver's seat back and setting the cot up.
The cot is handy to have for storage and for little kids to sleep in.

On a similar note, I opened up my Vanagon to my daughter, her cousins,
and a
friend (4, 3, 3, 2, and 2 years old) and let them run around and play
and
climb around in it the other day.

I never thought that my van would be rockin' from something like that.
Things sure do change in a hurry...
