I know there are few Mac users on the list. I just purchased a Mac for home
use and am getting used to it, but honestly it's not as smooth sailing as I
expected for the transistion and getting proficient. (Mostly just taking
time to figure out how things work - like I downloaded/installed Firefox and
could not find the actual application to put in the application folder...I
finally figured it out, about an hour later).

Anyway, if someone is out there who might be able to help me with some
questions, that would be great. The two biggest ones are (and yes, I've
searched online but had limited success)

- iPhoto can export pics for a website in various sizes, but the file sizes
are HUGE. Why doesn't iPhoto allow adjustable compression quality? A 600x800
photo is like 3x the size of the files I created on my Windows machine. Any
suggestions about how to do further compression wihtout buying a hefty
software pacakge?

- when I look into the actual folders from iPhoto it's saved double pictures
of each photo, even after I remove them from a slideshow or whatever (one +
origianl folder). THis seems like it is going to make some serious HD bloat.
Is there a way to control this?

- Mac Mail will NOT connect to my POP3 account on MSN. This is a BIG problem
since that is the main account my wife has used for years. Why is this, and
can anyone help me fix it?

other than that it would be nice to have someone I could send a quick email
to if I had a question I could not answer online. Please pmail me if you can
help...it's an OS x machine (10.4.?).
