Not sure if anyone has said this or not yet, but I'm a l'il tipsy, so
please excuse the repetition.

Go to an empty parking lot and practice stopping and starting and
going around corners at 20-30mph.  Make some imaginary corners.  Using
a lamp-post as the inner side of a corner is one way to help yourself.

Another very important thing is weight transfer.  When you want to
make a turn, tap the brake slightly to move the center of gravity
towards the front of the vehicle.  This will help the front tires
"bite" a bit more.  Also, use the engine to help you slow down.  A
driven wheel will not slide easily.

err... Again, sorry if any of that was said before.

(I drive a mazda rx7 as my daily driver and have had it through the
past 2 winters no problem.  I use goodyear assurance radials for
tires)
