I carry a 9L gas can inside the rim of my spare tire, a 15" SA Rhein
alloy wheel. Its not nearly as large as you're looking to carry but it
has saved my bacon a couple of times when I've tried to push it too
far to the next gas station. They come up on eBay from time to time, I
think I used to search under "spare tire gas tank"
