My '87 Camper isn't an "L" or a "GL" trim level vehicle, it is a base model. That means now power options, no tach, no carpet in rear passenger compartment and no chrome trim window moldings. The US always got a limited amount of trim level Vanagons, after '87 most were "GL" level vehicles. The base, "L", "CL" and "GL" options were still available on Spanish Transporters in 1989, at least thats what my brochure says VW was offering. Good luck, Tim Jeff Palmer <icecoldvw@HOTMAIL.COM> wrote: I always thought it was more of an "L" trim vs. "GL" designation. My 85 is a GL and I think 84s were all L's, all that I've seen anyway. No tach, and less nice door panels and upholstery. But I'll defer to the model king Chris here. But you couldn't get an L and GL in the same year, could you?
