Don't bet on a Diesel being exempt from emissions inspections. My Caterpillar Powered Diesel Motor home gets one every year on Long Island. They test for Nox, particulates, and opacity, (visible smoke).

What are the CA rules about putting a diesel in a non diesel Westy? Can this be done legally here in Kalifornia? Sure would be nice not to have to worry about SMOG checks ever again... not to mention all the other diesel advantages.
