Subject:   Fender Flares - custom made
Content-Type:   text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

A couple of things:

1) Seems there is considerable interest in fender flares.

2) Seems there are plenty of problems with them: a) tire clearance issues b) attaching issues d) fender cutting issues e) rusting issues. f) VAG issues (copyright & patent)

Given all this, I suggest that perhaps a hard look should be given at making these puppies from scratch. Nobody elses product used as a model for reproduction. Some original molds could be made that would better match the vehicles in question than facory, and from these the new pieces could be made. This would take more time, and involve the collective effort of some of our more talented list members, but I think it could be done.

Remember, if you copy crap, you end up with crap.
