Im gonna post this response here.Another may want to try this. RTV is a very good idea.However, I think it will fail from the pressure,if used alone.It will seal the ends better ,it seems. What I will try, if I have to go back in there, is RTV in the groove, followed up with JB Weld stick over the RTV to provide support,so it wont pop out.Expansion from heat is not a problem with the JB. Dont know why not though. The JB that was in the groove was still working fine after 2 years.No leak. I had no leaks this morning, and it was 15 degrees.Feels good.Maybe crud has found the cracks in the gasket,and called it home.Structually, this repair is good. |
