Maybe on top of the current rear heater? Or next to it, passenger side under the seat? If you aren't using both front battery boxes, it could fit there too. I've seen a few Euro conversions where it has been installed in a short storage box between the front seats. Also, it should easily fit in the small cubby left of the fridge, providing you get a 90-degree ell for intake air and duct that for recirculation. Tom S. has his in the closet, I'm sure he'd offer some photos.

Side note: Just returned from my grand adventure trip, my D1LC performed wonderfully, EXCEPT for one occasion: At 9400 feet and 5 degrees F., it would only start [sluggishly] with lots of smoke, and stop after warmup stage. Not enough oxygen? Fuel too cold? Gave me quite the headache, fumes mixed with the altitude.

Also, if you haven't yet bought the little muffler for the heater, definitely get one! It can be unbearable at some speeds and keep you awake. I can send the source where I got mine.
