I have not put Konis on my Vanagon yet, but plan to do so soon. I have installed them on my EuroVan, and I would think the process is the same. To adjust the shock you need to remove the plastic washer under the dust cover. You then depress the shock to engange the cam and you will feel it engage. After you engage it, you can mark the relationship of the shock body with the dust cover with a sharpie. You can then measure the amount you turn the shock in.

For my Weekender, I turned the shocks in 1 full turn. I think you can turn them in up to 3 turns. The Konis come adjusted from the factory, and for a standard Vanagon (non camper) I would start out with the stock setting and try it out before I made any adjustment.

Keep in mind that the adjustment is for rebound only, so it will not effect the initial compression of the shock.

If you dig around on Koni.com you can find a detailed instructions for adjustment. http://www.koni.com/_cars/_general_info/install_manuals/adjustment.html
