I saw the notes about the lubricating the latches...

What is the compound that should be put on the sliding door rollers?

The rollers really should not be greased, I do however recommend a light coating of anti rust inhibitor such as Krown Oil. Grease attracts dirt, dust & debris which will make the operation rough and wear out the rollers and track. The rollers have sealed ball bearing in them. That is where the lubrication is needed. The grease in the sealed ball bearings has dried out or has disappeared after 15 ~ 20 years of neglect. The only way to fix this problem is to remove the roller with bearings and replace the ball bearings with new ones if the bearings are worn or pry off the bearing seal, inject grease, then replace the seal. Then reinstall the roller and bearing assemblies.
