You didn't specify automatic or manual transmission; syncro?

Here is what I paid for rebuilt starter on my 89 Syncro DoubleCab last
year:

$145.00 for starter
+$27.00 core charge
4 hours labor

I have also had starters rebuilt locally at a good rebuild shop. Cost for
rebuilding is approximately $85.00.

I would have had the above starter rebuilt, but the rebuild shop was on
vacation when the work was done.
