Right angle female spades were used on those wires by the factory because there is limited space.
I stand corrected, Mark is absolutely correct. It was very early and my brain was still in half sleep mode. I obviously was describing the 1.9 wiring scenario. The 1.9 wiring and 2.1 wiring to the power steering switch are not the same.
