as far as I know it was in ok -- the torque converter was wired in place so it couldn't slip out. If it was out, then the tranny wouldn't fit in would it? I'm guessing that if the shaft was not seated then the torque converter would be out of position and the tranny housing wouldn't mate with the engine.
